Animated Skull Quick Start Guide
Note: Our MIDI-controlled animated skull can be used with any MIDI sequencing software and MIDI hardware, but this guide assumes you are using the Division 6 MIDI adapter and running Reaper.
Install Reaper
- Reaper can be downloaded from http://www.reaper.fm
Plug the skull into your computer
- Plug the MIDI adapter into your computer's USB port.
- Connect the skull to the MIDI adapter's "Out" connector with the included custom MIDI cable.
- Turn the skull on by flipping the switch on the bottom to the "Sensor" position.
Open Reaper.
Configure Audio Hardware (only needed if you receive an error)
- Click Options > Preferences and choose Audio > Device in the left column.
- Choose a driver that works with your sound card. WaveOut probably has the best chance of working, but also can have latency problems when you're recording sequences.
Configure MIDI Hardware
- Click MIDI Devices in the left column of the Preferences window.
- Find your MIDI hardware in the input and output boxes. If you're using the Division 6 MIDI adapter it's probably called "USB Audio Device".
- Make sure they say "Enabled" next to them. If not, double-click on each, check the "Enable input from this device" / "Enable output to this device" boxes, and click OK.
- Click OK to close the Preferences box.
You should now be ready to build a sequence as described in the Building A Sequence video.
